Why We Gather

there2The first is the weekly gathering of the church to join our voices together in affirming God’s goodness, faithfulness, love, and power; to bear witness to God’s wonderful work of salvation; to hear His word proclaimed; and to offer our prayers, presence, gifts, and service.  This gathered experience of worship is of utmost importance to the health of our spiritual lives and we should each be committed to this weekly gathering of the church in Worship.

ten2

  1. God is worthy of our gathered praise and worship.
  2. Worship right-sizes my image of God and myself.
  3. It is the antidote to self-centeredness.
  4. Worship reminds us we are in unity with 2 billion believers worldwide.
  5. It realigns and recalibrates our spirits each week.
  6. We need to witness to a watching world.
  7. It honors martyrs who are persecuted for gathering to worship.
  8. It provides the large front door to the body of Christ.
  9. It models faithfulness to the next generation.
  10. It allows us to celebrate the sacraments of communion and baptism together.he3The second aspect of worship involves the daily rhythm of our lives and how we acknowledge God in the midst of our moments and days.  This involves the habit of daily prayer, meditation of Scripture, and acts of love.  Another foundation to daily worship is cultivating a heart of gratitude.  James 1:17 says, “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights….” Make it a practice to recognize the good things that come your way and pause to give God thanks and praise for those things.let2
