Pastor Anthony Gasery received his call to ministry in the year of 1993. Immediately following, Pastor Gasery began his training under the supervision of Pastor Levon Thurman of the Houston Lighthouse Trinity Church. Pastor Gasery received his training in many areas of ministry such as, but not limited to, Church Administration, Church Finances, Youth and Young Adult counseling, Church Government and Community Outreach, just to name a few. Pastor Gasery also studied Biblical teaching methods, including furthering his education at the College of Biblical Studies (Houston, Texas).
Upon completion of this extensive training, Pastor Gasery soon began applying the knowledge he had received. He was ordained, licensed, and began serving as Youth Pastor at the Houston Lighthouse Trinity Church. His dedicated and diligent service in this office proved to open even more opportunities of ministry for him. In fact, in the year of 1995, Pastor Gasery was selected to be the first President of the Youth in Christ Fellowship, a city-wide organization made up of many different church ministries with varied denominational backgrounds. The Youth in Christ Fellowships mission was to organize and develop effective youth ministry departments in the city of Houston.
This divine election would propel, a still very young pastor, into uncharted territories of ministry. For instance, as president, Pastor Gasery’s responsibilities included presiding and officiating over the Board of Directors. Moreover, he organized and managed the fellowships financial affairs and budget projections, as well as other challenging tasks.
Pastor Gasery would go on to serve as youth director for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship (Houston-East district), an international fellowship organization based in New Orleans, LA. In addition, Pastor Gasery founded and launched a Christian radio program, dedicated to youth and young adult mentoring, called “TEEN TALK”. Pastor Gasery also established a youth choir that turned out to be one of the most sought after choirs in Houston, TX. He was thereafter promoted to city-wide youth director of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship. However, he would resign to focus on establishing and strengthening his ministry. Pastor Gasery received his call in the year 1997 to pastor full time. He founded and established Beacon of Light Trinity Church, now known as, Beacon of Light Christian Center, where he serves as Senior Pastor.
In 2001 Pastor and Lady Gasery met their spiritual father and mother, Bishop Vaughn and Lady Narlene McLaughlin, stewards of The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship. Over the years this connection has proven to be orchestrated by God. On June 19, 2003, Bishop Vaughn McLaughlin ordained Pastor Anthony Gasery in the office of Pastor.
After years of worship in various locations, Pastor Anthony & Lady Shironda Gasery, in March of 2004, would break ground on their first debt-free worship center. This structure would later serve as the administrative wing to the newly approved worship/community center. The first phase of the vision God gave Pastor Gasery was completed in 2005. In October of 2005 Beacon of Light Christian Center entered “The Gasery Foundation” for praise and worship services. In the following years the focus on youth remains. Currently, the plans for the community facility, aptly named, “The Club House,” are in the completion process. The Club House, equipped with a sports gym, a worship center, and a youth outreach center is scheduled to open in the near future. This facility will continue to serve and minister the Word of God to lost souls in and around the community in which it resides.
